SCOR EDC and South Coast Winery Tour

The South Coast Wine Association received $185,000 from the Sand Plains Community Development Fund. This project has supported the establishment and start-up of the Ontario South Coast Wineries & Growers Association. The project includes working towards VQA designation, a feasibility plan for the development of new wineries, evaluation of growing conditions and the creation of agri-tourism opportunities across the Sand Plains Region. The association has just welcomed a new member, Carolinian Winery, located in Thorndale, Ontario.
Arts Country and Lavender Association

The Honourable Diane Finley recently announced that the Ontario Lavender Association will receive $40,000 in federal funding to help find the best variety to grow in the Ontario Sand Plains region.The announcement was made at the Norfolk County Fair and Horseshow.
Lavender is used for culinary, medicinal and industrial purposes. It is well suited to the soil in the Sand Plains region of SCOR.
Arts Country
Barber & Veri Inc. hosted a press conference with Haldimand-Norfolk MP Diane Finley, Norfolk County Mayor Dennis Travale and the Norfolk Arts Centre. Minister Finley announced funding from the Sand Plains Community Development Fund of $125,000 for a Studio Tour Marketing Network. The focus of the project will be the development of an Arts Country catalogue and website highlighting regional artists. This project is a great tool that will raise the profile of artists within the SCOR region.
