SCOR FoodHub
The SCOR FoodHub was a project that was intended to provide opportunities for small and medium-sized food producers across the region to connect, aggregate and potentially find new business opportunities. The SCOR FoodHub was to act as a catalyst to bring producers and purchasers together to jointly seek ways to bring more locally produced food to broader public sector consumers and the general public.
ABOUT
THE PROJECT
It was initially led by Erie Innovation and Commercialization and supported through SCOR EDC.
The project was intended to be a three year project and the vision was at the end of that term the producers and purchasers would have established relationships, connections and would have identified shared opportunities so that oversight would be directly from the producers and SCOR EDC would be a supporter.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
Food Policy
FoodHub members were able to influence food policy and support organizations. Those connections included The London and Middlesex Food Policy Council.
Regional Connections
FoodHub members were able to create stronger regional connections. Those connections included Oxford Fresh and the Ontario Student Nutrition Program.
Producers
FoodHub members were able to access opportunities and connections between local producers and larger scale food purchasers.
Purchasers
FoodHub members were able to make connections with purchasers to help provide nutritious and local food to consumers in the region.
